Conrad is running for a Harlem

     where our community.

  doesn’t get sold out, but

    where our community is

  invested in.

WHAT CONRAD IS ABOUT

I'm a Harlemite and proud Democratic Socialist running for NYS Assembly in Assembly District 70.

Harlem has been the driver of the culture- whether in politics, music, art, fashion or thought. But political elites and corporate interests have purposely stifled that progress and drained Harlem of its resources. I'm running to put Harlem back in the hands of the people.

As a Union Organizer, I have learned how to build collective power to use the bully pulpit against the powers that try to divide us. I've learned that when we fight together we win. Together we can. Together we must!

THE PLATFORM

 HOUSING

Housing is a human right. Yet, in Harlem many of our neighbors are being forced out of their homes by skyrocketing rent prices and predatory landlords. We have to fight for a Harlem where families have stable and affordable housing and landlords are held accountable.

PROTECTING THE COMMUNITY

Everyday, we witness the working of a criminal legal system that seeks only to separate families, instead of addressing the root causes of crime – poverty. At the same time, we witness ICE agents disappear college students and other hardworking Harlemites of color. And, all while this is happening, unchecked, invasive corporations are contaminating Harlem’s air and water systems with deadly contaminants, like Legionella. Harlem must stand together and fight to protect our community from each of these forces. Together, we will invest in proven solutions to harms committed by community members, hold negligent corporations accountable, and fight for an ICE-free New York.

AFFORDABILITY CRISIS

Harlem used to offer an affordable place for young professionals and families to grow roots in Manhattan. Now, Harlemites cannot afford rent, groceries, childcare, or healthcare. We must make Harlem affordable again. We will do so by taxing New York’s top 1% and reinvesting it in the community.
